The Electoral Legislation Amendment (Modernisation and Other Measures) Act 2019 received Royal Assent on 1 March 2019.

Two significant changes will affect candidates nominating for federal elections.

The AEC employs around 80,000 Australians to deliver a federal election. There are election roles available before, on or after election day.

People from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Can we count you in?

The Australian Electoral Commission only conducts federal electoral events. State, territory and local elections are conducted by the relevant electoral management body.

Changes have been made to federal election funding and disclosure laws as a result of the Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Act 2018.

Charities and electoral expenditure and disclosure

Recent changes to the Electoral Act may impact organisations, such as some charities, that incur expenditure to influence voters in a federal election.
