What's happening

Some changes have been made to federal election funding and disclosure laws as a result of the Electoral Legislation Amendment (Electoral Funding and Disclosure Reform) Act 2018, which largely come into effect on 1 January 2019, however there are immediate changes to also be aware of.

Over 930,000 households in VIC, QLD, SA, TAS and the ACT will receive letters advising their address has been transferred to a new division.

If you receive a letter and the address is correct, you do not need to do anything. The AEC has already transferred electors to the correct electoral division.

2016 federal election inquiry finalised

The Joint Standing Committee on Electoral Matters (JSCEM) has released its final report of the inquiry into the conduct of the 2016 federal election.

The AEC is considering the recommendations in the report.

When nominating for federal elections candidates can complete a qualification checklist to demonstrate their eligibility under s44 of the Constitution.

Can we count you in?

The AEC employs around 80,000 Australians to deliver a federal election. There are election roles available before, on or after election day.

People from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
