People from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Candidates are now able to complete a 'qualification checklist' to demonstrate their eligibility to be elected to Parliament under Section 44 of the Constitution.
The AEC does not have the authority to conduct eligibility checks. Candidate eligibility is addressed in Section 44 of the Constitution. The Constitution is administered by the Attorney-General’s Department.
The way in which federal electoral advertisements must be authorised has changed.
