With two major electoral milestones in South Australia over the next week, the AEC is reminding South Australian media and voters of the separate management bodies responsible.
Election day for the state election is this Saturday, 21 March 2026.

The Electoral Commission of South Australia (ECSA) conducts the state election. While the AEC maintains the electoral roll nationwide, the AEC has no oversight role for the conduct of state elections. All public and media enquiries should be directed to ECSA. |
The proposal for redrawing South Australia’s federal electorates will be released mid-morning on Friday 27 March.

This process is federal. It is entirely separate to the state election and state electorates. The panel members who determine boundaries are acting independent of any electoral management body. The AEC provides secretariat services. |
Media representatives are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the federal redistribution process prior to the release of the proposal next Friday. Twenty-seven public submissions were received by the committee and are available for viewing on the South Australian redistribution webpage
