Election jobs on offer for regional South Australia

Updated: 26 November 2024

The AEC is putting out a call across regional South Australia for paid workers to help deliver Australia’s next federal election – due by May of 2025.

There has been strong interest in the AEC’s recruitment drive for the next election, but more people are needed across the state.

In particular, the AEC is seeking additional people in 3 of the state’s largest electorates:

  • Grey - including the Eyre Peninsula and the Roxby Downs region
  • Spence - including areas around Edinburgh, Elizabeth and Salisbury
  • Barker - including areas around the Riverlands, Bordertown and Mt Gambier.

Election jobs come in a variety of types, from working on election day through to engagement for up to 7 weeks of a full election campaign period.

The AEC is also reminding people who may have worked at the 2023 referendum or a previous federal election that their expression of interest will not carry over for the next federal election – they need to visit the AEC’s website and register for temporary employment.

You can register your interest online by visiting the AEC’s website.

Quotes attributable to South Australia State Manager Cameron Stokes

  • “We’re really encouraging people from all over the state to sign up to work with us, because a federal election doesn’t just happen in the city.”
  • “Working at an election is an experience you’ll never forget, and it’s a really rare opportunity to help your community have its say.”
