Candidate nominations for the Cook by-election

Updated: 19 March 2024

The deadline for candidate nominations for the 2024 Cook by-election is fast approaching, with nominations closing at midday on Thursday 21 March 2024.

AEC State Manager for NSW Rebecca Main said that late nominations cannot be accepted so it is crucial for any intending candidate to make sure they are well organised.

“People wishing to nominate as a candidate in the Cook by-election are running out of time,” Ms Main said.

“Clear guidance is available for both endorsed and unendorsed intending candidates to enable them to complete the required paperwork.”

Nomination forms are available on the AEC website.

Invitation: Declaration of nominations

Candidates for the 2024 Cook federal by-election will be officially declared at midday on Friday 22 March, the day after nominations close.

Following the declaration of candidates, the Divisional Returning Officer for Cook will conduct a random draw for positions on the ballot paper.

  • When: Midday, Friday 22 March 2024
