Enrol now for the 2024 Dunkley by-election

Updated: 29 January 2024

The Australian Electoral Commission is calling on all Dunkley residents to check their enrolment details ahead of the enrolment deadline.

AEC State Manager for Victoria Natasha Scandrett said it’s imperative Dunkley residents who have recently turned 18 or are new to the area ensure they’re enrolled correctly before 8pm Monday 5 February."

“If you’re not enrolled by the deadline, you won’t be able to vote and there are only a few days left,” Ms Scandrett said.

The electorate of Dunkley consists of all of the Frankston City Council and Mount Eliza which is part of the Mornington Peninsula Shire. Dunkley covers suburbs including Sandhurst, Skye, Carrum Downs, Langwarrin and Seaford.

“If you live in the federal division of Dunkley you can enrol, or update or check your enrolment details online, at aec.gov.au.”

The writ for the by-election has been issued and voting day will be Saturday 2 March 2024.

Postal voting applications open

“If Dunkley residents know they won’t be able to make it to a polling place on Saturday 2 March, it’s important to start planning for that now,” Ms Scandrett said.

“Early voting centres will be open from Monday 19 February, but for those people who can’t make it in-person at all, postal voting applications are now available from the AEC’s website.”

“If voters intend to vote by post, they should apply for a postal vote now,” said Ms Scandrett.

“For people who need a postal vote, it’s important to apply as soon as possible and to apply directly through the AEC website.”

Voters can apply for a postal vote now on the AEC website, until 6pm Wednesday 28 February 2024.
