2020-21 annual financial disclosure returns published today

Updated: 01 February 2022

The 2020-21 annual financial disclosure returns from political parties, significant third parties (previously political campaigners), associated entities, donors and third parties that incur electoral expenditure are now available for public inspection.

The annual returns are available on the AEC’s Transparency Register at https://transparency.aec.gov.au/.

Navigating the register
The Transparency Register is a customisable database of financial disclosure information, allowing users to apply multiple filters to refine their search. It also includes images of the original returns and a data-export function to enable users to undertake additional analysis of the data outside of the Register.

Navigation note: Due to the legislative changes introduced on 13 December 2021, for newly registered significant third parties and some associated entities, the annual returns will be available on the landing page for Transparency Register at: https://www.aec.gov.au/Parties_and_Representatives/financial_disclosure/transparency-register/.

Any questions on the navigation of the Transparency Register should be directed to the AEC’s funding and disclosure helpdesk on 02 6271 4552.

Editor’s notes:

  • The disclosure scheme requires registered political parties, significant third parties, associated entities, donors and third parties that have incurred electoral expenditure to lodge annual financial disclosure returns with the AEC.
  • The disclosure threshold for the 2020–21 financial year returns was $14,300. The threshold is indexed on 1 July each year.
  • The disclosure period covers 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. Any transactions made after 30 June 2021 should be disclosed in the 2021–22 annual disclosure return.
  • Further information on the financial disclosure scheme is available at www.aec.gov.au/Parties_and_Representatives/financial_disclosure/ .
