Named after Harold Edward Holt (1903–1967), Prime Minister (1966–1967), who disappeared in 1967 while swimming off Portsea Beach.

Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 106 sq km from Noble Park in the north to Narre Warren in the east.

The main suburbs include Doveton, Endeavour Hills, Eumemmerring, Hallam, Hampton Park and parts of Dandenong South, Keysborough, Narre Warren South, Narre Warren North, Noble Park and part of Springvale South.
